The electric version of BMWโ€™s iconic M3 model is expected to be launched by 2028. Recently, pictures of the winter testing of this vehicle have surfaced, which give a glimpse of its powerful performance and cutting-edge technology.

Four-motor powertrain with 700 horsepower

The electric BMW M3 will be equipped with a four-motor power system with 700 horsepower. Each wheel will be driven by a separate motor, allowing the power distribution in the vehicle to be extremely precise and optimized. This technology will give the vehicle better grip on slippery surfaces and more stability during cornering.

According to BMW M, this system has a potential of up to 1,340 horsepower, but the power of the M3 electric version will be limited to 700 horsepower. Apart from this, this powertrain will have a very linear power output, which is a feature of BMW M vehicles.

Advanced Technology and Simulation of Gear Shift

BMW has incorporated several new technologies to improve the driverโ€™s experience. In this, the traditional instrument panel has been removed, and important information will be presented in the head-up display (HUD). Also, it will have a large touch screen display, so that the driver can easily access all the controls.

Gear shift simulation technology can be added to the BMW M3 Electric to improve the driving experience. This technology will give the driver information about the speed and acceleration of the car without looking at the screen, which will further improve the driving experience on the track.

The new generation of BMW M3 will come to the market around 2027 and will be introduced as a 2028 model. The company plans to offer both petrol and electric options keeping in mind the different needs of the consumers. The fuel-based M3 will be built on the CLAR platform with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine.

At the same time, the electric M3 is being built specifically on the new technology โ€œNeue Klasseโ€ platform. This platform will debut with an electric 3-series (possibly i3) in 2026.

This move by BMW reflects its seriousness towards electric mobility. After existing EV models like the i4 M50 and i7 M70, the BMW M3 EV will be the companyโ€™s first dedicated M electric car.
