Jimmy Shergill is a talented actor. And, the actor should keep experimenting with his characters. In this regard, the character he has played in the film ‘Azam’ is a good opportunity to draw a new line for his acting. Hindi cinema has long played a game of hide and seek with stories based on Mumbai’s underworld. Angry youths Bhiku Mahatre and Subhash Nagare also came out from this cinema. Now it’s Javed’s turn. It has been a long time since Jimmy Shergill played the lead role in a film released on the big screen. For them, only small roles remain in the big budget films of Hindi cinema and the small budget films in which they get big roles are beyond the reach of the general cinema audience. Jimmy’s career has been going round and round for the past 20 years.

Who is the king of Mumbai,

After Zaheer from the movie ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, now Jimmy Shergill has come to Javed. The story revolves around the area of South Mumbai where Mumbai’s underworld is said to be running. After killing the Sultan, the health of the Nawab, sitting on the throne of the Don, remains critical. The end is near. Politics needs a new don to kneel before it. A meeting is held. Umbrellas from different areas of the city meet and whose names are compromised, Javed strikes a deal with Don’s son. Then the remaining strings are killed one by one. Officials believe they have bet on the wrong punt. A police officer, a chess player also joins the race in the last round. The story is about one night. However, its preparation is very old. In the age of mobile, the game of underworld is played with the help of hacking and in many places the matter becomes quite interesting.

Flashbacks spoil the story

The movie ‘Azam’ is written and directed by Sharwan Tiwari. Shravan is also the editor of the film but the film is a lesson in how only background music can sustain a well-made film. Shravan Tiwari has written the film in a very interesting way. Half of this two-hour film moves at such a fast pace that it seems that one has seen a crime thriller after a long time. But, in front of this global film, large pits of flashbacks follow. Javed starts narrating so many stories from the past that not only the fun of watching the film is spoiled, but his own character is also weakened. If the hero of the film is Jimmy Shergill then obviously the other actors of the film can be like Sayaji Shinde, Mushtaq Khan and Ali Khan.

Wazir is not a game of seals

The film ‘Azam’ that could get Jimmy Shergill to film again with the main lead cannot help him in this mission. He remains the narrator of the film. He does not have a hero role in the film. And, this is because his character is not present in the story whenever, wherever it is happening to turn it around. Except for the death of Nanya and then Kadar at the beginning of the story. The number of heroes playing mind games behind the scenes in cinema is increasing. In this context, the film will be helpful for Jimmy Shergill, provided his character is playing the game for something worthwhile. It is difficult for the audience to relate to this character as the whole battle is to get the don’s seat and this battle is also being fought with the powerful ones forced through blackmailing.

Admirable cinematography

Shravan Tiwari has done a good job as a technician in the movie ‘Azam’. He got a lot of help from his cinematographer Ranjit Sahu in making the film. Shahu’s team has done a commendable job in creating the lighting combination in this film which mostly takes place in one night. His framing, his cuts and his camera movements impress. Although in the last scene while rotating the camera placed on the crane, the monitor placed during the shooting is also visible in the frame and during editing, that part could have been removed by enlarging the frame, but maybe Shravan. The film was shot on the assumption that it was a mistake to remove the sight
