Actress Sulochana Latkar passed away, funeral will be held on June 5

New Delhi: Popular Marathi and Hindi cinema actress Sulochana Latkar passed away on Sunday (June 4) due to prolonged illness and age-related complications. He was undergoing treatment at Shushrusha Hospital in Mumbai. Sulochana will be cremated at Dadar crematorium on Monday at 5:30 pm.

His daughter Kanchan Ghanekar confirmed his death to Indianexpress.com and said, “He had age-related health problems and difficulty breathing. He died at 6 pm today.”

Sulochana acted in more than 250 Hindi and 50 Marathi films. She began her career with Marathi films in the early 1940s and soon moved into Hindi films, where she starred in Shammi Kapoor’s Dil Dekhe Dekho, Dilip Kumar’s Aadmi and Dev Anand’s Jhoni Mera Naam. Played many roles of mother in films like ..

She was a leading actress in Marathi films from 1946 to 1961 with films like ‘Sasurvas’ (1946), ‘Vahinichya Bangdaya’ (1953), ‘Meeth Bhakar’, ‘Sangatye Aayka’ (1959), ‘Lakshmi Ali Ghar’, ‘Moti’. remained Manase’, ‘Jivcha Sakha’, ‘Pativarat’, ‘Sukh Di Sobti’, ‘Bhubhej’, ‘Kashganga’ and ‘Dhakki Jau’.

Latkar was a recipient of the civilian honor of Padma Shri (1999). He was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. In 2009, he was awarded the Maharashtra Bhushan Award by the Government of Maharashtra.
