After scoring a hat-trick of direct OTT releases from ‘Ghoomketu’, ‘Raat Akeeli Hai’ and ‘Serious Man’, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui got a new look in last year’s ‘Heropanti 2’. With stylish clothes, superstar complexion and frequent use of English in dialogue, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has followed almost the same path Manoj Bajpai took with his close friend and director Hansal Mehta in films like Dil Pe Matt Le Yaar. Hansal now says that he was hasty in making his early films. However, there is no such excuse in front of Sudhir Mishra, the director of the film ‘Afwah’. After the film ‘Serious Man’, they have brought Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the film ‘Afwaah’ in the role of a man returning to America who dreams of changing the image of the country through a mobile company.

Viral video boomerang ho…

The film ‘Rumour’ focuses on the dangerous use of mobiles. How a large section of the society, which finds its happiness in the suffering of others, has been misled in the confusion of viral videos, this is the basis of the film ‘Rumour’ and its remedy is this viral video or say ‘Rumour’ if if What if you make builders your prey? The film ‘Rumour’ begins with the illusion of rumors in the political turmoil. A rising leader in religion-centered politics, a close-knit peddler breaks into his shop and kills a butcher. When the situation worsens, the leader even agrees to the police’s request to hide him, but he escapes. Leaders are engaged. The wedding is just about to happen. This marriage is a kind of political alliance which her fiancé refuses to accept. She runs away from home. On the way, the leader’s people force him to bring him back and this cannot be tolerated from returning to America through this route. The first fiance was walking alone. This is not the dawn of the night part 2

Like Sudhir Mishra’s classic film ‘Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin’, the story of the film ‘Afwaah’ seems to take place mostly in one night. The basic premise of the story is similar that a person from the corporate world becomes the target of the people of the crime world due to an unknowing act. After this both the films have a similar flow. The hero does not retreat, just keeps running for his life. Sudhir Mishra’s personality has been such that he wants to say everything on Sting. But, while he is eager to get his point across the camera to the big screen, he fails to serve it up to the changing tastes of the times. Ever since ‘Ye Sali Zindagi’, he has been in a quandary as to how to combine the filmmaking of his era with the stories of the new era. If he can rekindle his skills by avoiding redundant statements, he still has a lot to say through cinema.

Fixed rate of land, consistent performance

At the center of the story of the movie ‘Afwaah’ is the daughter of a big leader. This character is played by Bhumi Pednekar. She is an artist of Yash Raj Talents, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films. Films are also getting bigger than her stature in cinema, but Bhumi is not working too hard to promote herself. A similar pattern of his characters speaking the truth has started to form in his films as well. After the film ‘Pati Matthiya Aur Wo’, her career has stalled. From ‘Shubh Mangal Kadhi Saadhan’, ‘Bhoot’, ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Wo Chamkate Sitare’, ‘Durgamati’, ‘Badhai Do’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ to his previous films like ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ and ‘Bheed’. are only Bhumi needs directors who can help her understand all the acting tricks she has learned so far and give a new look to her natural acting. His monotonous acting is the biggest speedbreaker in his journey from hesitating, arguing and going to the extremes of being excited instead of putting his point across concretely. If he goes further than this, then something better can be expected from him in roles like the movie ‘Afwah’.

Nawazuddin is not where he is

The hero of the film is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. His character continues to narrate a fictional story in his stage productions. He moves through the audience to engage with them. Also sits on platform steps. Wears branded clothes. Wears stylish glasses. His car is also automatic. But, what this character really is, how much truth there is in what he says and how strong he is from within, all these things that director Sudhir Mishra tries to create in half of the film, the same in the rest of the film. is This confusion of the character of Uda Deo does not allow the audience to empathize with Nawazuddin’s character till the end. Sumit Vyas has a better character in the film. Whenever a young leader tries to shine in national politics with the help of social media, his flight is reversed when the ground reality comes to light. On the other hand, seeing Sharib Hashmi on screen for the first time makes it clear what he is going to do next.

Amazing performance by TJ Bhanu

Actress TJ Bhanu has done a wonderful job in the movie ‘Afwah’. The actress, who showed her brilliance in ‘The Forgotten Army’, plays a police sergeant in the film who is instigated by her mother to have sex with her senior. The plot of the film is shocking. If the entire film could have been written and made from the point of view of a mother against social norms and a daughter torn between two sides, the box office results could have been different. Technically the film is not good. Mauricio Vidal has portrayed a state of great location like Rajasthan on screen in a very average way. Even his lighting team doesn’t help him much when filming scenes in the dark of night. Atnu Mukherjee’s editing is largely successful in trying to maintain the pace of the film. However, the impact of what Sameer Tandon and Dr. Sagar have tried to create together in the film does not emerge.
