New Delhi: After MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) to clinch their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title on Monday, the congratulatory messages continue to pour in. Actor Anupam Kher, who plays Dhoni’s father in the biopic, paid a touching tribute on social media. Taking to Instagram, Anupam shared the MS. Throwing pictures of Dhoni with the trophy and old pictures from the set.
While sharing the pictures, he wrote, “My dear #MSDhoni! When I played your father in the film #Dhoni, I used to do my scenes by memorizing the ups and downs of your biography before every shot to bring reality to each scene. Almost 7 years have passed since the release of that film but even today the eyes of the cricket field are filled with pride and love to see your character and game. Congratulations and best wishes for every victory in life! May you always win!”
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is based on the life of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Test, ODI and T20 captain of the Indian national cricket team. Starring late actor Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni, the film also stars Disha Patani, Kiara Advani and Anupam Kher in lead roles.
The film was not only loved by a multitude of her fans and critics, but also became one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of 2016.
In this, Sushant won the hearts of the audience with his brilliant performance as Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic. Many left spellbound, some were even confused as to whether they saw Sushant or Dhoni on screen, clearly proving what a great actor Sushant was. From the way Dhoni walks to the way he speaks, Sushant notes everything and it is beautifully portrayed in the film.
CSK beat GT by five wickets in a last-ball thriller in Ahmedabad on Monday.
A strong partnership between Conway-Ruturaj helped lay the foundation for a successful run chase, but a game-changing spell from Mohit Sharma threatened to rob CSK of victory. However, Dubey and Jadeja kept calm to win a memorable title for the men in yellow.
Immediately after the match, several Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles and congratulated CSK for their 5th IPL title win. Karthik Aryan, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh and others also congratulated the team for the win.
