ASUS Unlocks 24% Faster AI Performance with Intel Core Ultra 200S Processors

ASUS Unlocks 24% Faster AI Performance

ASUS has demonstrated a new “NPU Boost” feature on its ROG platform. The feature claims to boost the AI โ€‹โ€‹performance of the NPU (neural processing unit) of the Intel Core Ultra 200S series desktop processors by up to 24%.

Typically, the performance of an NPU is measured in TOPS (tera operations per second). Intel’s latest Core Ultra 9 285K processors offer a capability of 13 TOPS. According to ASUS, this new feature is designed to give users better and faster performance in AI-based tasks.

New Way of NPU Overclocking

The Intel Core Ultra 200 series CPUs feature a dual BCLK design. It features two independent internal PLLs (phase-locked loops)โ€”one for the computing module and the other for the SOC module. The SOC PLL has an impact on the NPU, making it possible to overclock it separately. This “NPU Boost” feature from ASUS uses this technique.

Performance Test Improvements

According to ASUS’s Edge Up tests:

  • UL Procyon AI Inference benchmark: 22% improvement.
  • OpenVINO performance: 22% improvement.
  • ResNet50 test: 24% improvement.

These figures show that the NPU Boost feature delivers better performance in AI-based tasks, such as image processing and data analysis.

This new feature from ASUS is especially beneficial for users who work on AI-based applications or high-computational tasks. This improvement in NPU performance will provide users with faster and more accurate results.

ASUS has ensured that this feature is user-friendly and easily accessible. This technological upgrade strengthens the partnership between Intel and ASUS, pushing new boundaries in AI computing.
