New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Bhojpuri actress Nisha Upadhyay was recently shot during a firing during a celebration at her show in Patna. The incident took place when the singer was performing at a cultural program in Saran, Bihar. As reported by E-Times, the bullet hit the singer on his left thigh after which he was rushed to a hospital in Patna and provided medical attention. His condition is said to be stable.
Nisha was performing during the yagnopavit – a ritual performed among Brahmins to wear the sacred thread. According to the local police, the bullet hit Nisha Upadhyay’s left thigh when some people present at the program opened fire on the spot.
“We have received information about the incident but no written complaint has been lodged yet. We are investigating how the shots were fired and who were involved in the firing,” a police official was quoted as saying by India TV. Hoy said.
Now the case is being investigated further. According to reports, the police are now investigating who was involved in the shooting and how the shots were fired at the event.
Nisha Upadhyay is a folk singer who hails from village Gaur Basant in Saran district and resides in Patna. She is often seen performing in many cultural events. Some of his popular songs include ‘Le Le Aaye Coca Cola’, ‘Navkar Mantra’, ‘Dholida Dhol Re Vagad’, and ‘Hasi Hasi Jaan Marela’.
This is the second case of celebratory firing from Bihar in the last month. In May this year, a 17-year-old boy was killed in a firing incident to celebrate a wedding in Bihar’s Samastipur. An eyewitness, Dharmendra Kumar, informed the police, “The deceased was a friend of my brother’s son. Immediately after the Jamal ceremony, as soon as the bride touched the groom’s feet, a man shot at her and fled. .”
