The National Film Development Corporation is a government body whose function is to organize the cinema business as well as the production of good cinema in the country. But for the last few years, with the help of the National Film Development Corporation, such films are being made, which are neither living up to the expectations of the audience, nor is there any improvement in their business. All the films made with the help of National Film Development Corporation, their story plot is very good. But, the way a story is written on paper, it doesn’t come across on the silver screen. Something similar seems to be happening with the film ‘Chidhikhana’.

An attempt has been made to tell the story of the film ‘Zoo’ with the help of the game of football. The plot is to give importance to the game of football like other sports. What special things should be taken care of for this and how to create awareness about this sport among people? This should be the main issue of the film. But, in the process of turning the story into a screenplay and then making a film out of it, everything has turned upside down. The story of the film starts with a boy who came from Bihar with his mother. He enrolled in a government school in Mumbai. The question repeatedly arises in his mind that why does his mother change the city again and again? Changed cities, changed schools, what didn’t change was Suraj’s passion for football. Suraj continues to play football with the children in the government school. Then the principal of the school says that the lease of the school’s ground has expired. This can only be saved if the school children win football matches.

Writer-director Manish Tiwari has tried to bring a twist in the film ‘Zoo’. And, the twist is that every human has an animal inside. If we want to win a football match, we must use our inner beast as strength. Under this thinking the characters appear as animals. Children studying in the dilapidated building of a government school played a football match against the top football players of Mumbai. Obviously, if the film is made, only children studying in government schools will win. But how to make ‘Chuck De India’ in the film to its conclusion, the director of the film has completely failed.

The story of the film is to promote the game of football but as the film progresses, the issue of land mafia, non-Mumbaikars and Naxalism in Bihar also comes into play. Sooraj’s mother is shown in the role of a Naxalite’s wife who dies in an encounter. She wanders from city to city to escape her past and reaches Mumbai. After reaching Mumbai, her brother finds her. From here it seems that the story might take a new turn, but the director covers this entire track in just two minutes and the movie ‘Zoo’ is just a chore jam.

Manish Tiwari’s previous film ‘Dil Dosti Itfaq’ was produced by Prakash Jha, the director of ‘Zoo’. The film was released in the year 2007 and was declared a flop. Then in 2013, Manish Tiwari made ‘Ishq’ with Prateek Babbar, Amyra Dastur and Ravi Kishan. Actor Ravi Kishan is also in the film ‘Chidhyaghar’ to play the character of the then friendship and has disappeared in just one scene.

Talking about the rest of the actors of the film, except for Prashant Narayan, no one’s work could impress. Cinema greats like Rajeshwari Sachdeva, Govind Namdev, Anjan Srivastava, Nagesh Bhosle, Milind Joshi are seen eating their food. Apart from the lullaby song ‘So Ja Re Babua’, there is no other song from the movie ‘Chidiya Ghar’ that remains memorable. If some songs keep playing in the background of the film, then they disturb the scenes a lot. The cinematography and editing of the film is also average.
