Chittorgarh. Two accused have been arrested after recovering more than Rs 50 lakh from a shop of an illegal hawala trader in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh city, while a minor has been detained and sent to a child care home.
SP Rajan Dushyant said that the Kotwali police station, acting under the illegal hawala business being run in the shop, raided the mobile shop located in the city’s Nawan Kapra market and recovered more than 50 lakh rupees in cash. During the search, apart from cash, note counting machines, blank cheques, DVRs, seals of various companies etc. were recovered. A case has been registered at Kotwali Chittorgarh police station and two accused have been arrested, while a minor has been taken into custody and sent to a child care home.
He said that the police raided and searched the shop on Monday on the information of illegal hawala business in the mobile shop of Gianmal Chaplot in Rishabh Complex, New Cloth Market, Chittorgarh. During the search, cash worth Rs 50 lakh 33 thousand, one DVR, 74 seals of different companies, 03 note counting machines and one laptop, 151 blank signed cheques, 362 filled checks were recovered from inside the mobile shop. , checkbooks and diaries of 412 different bank accounts were found, which were seized. The preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the said person took cash from different people and created different fake companies for their accounts. Entries were prepared in the accounts and money was transferred to people’s bank accounts and the hawala business came to light. .
Banks, Income Tax Department and GST Department are being contacted for this information. Actions are being taken to seize accounts by contacting various banks. Information about the seals of 74 different firms found in the shop is being collected to ascertain whether such firms actually exist or not. Efforts are being made to decipher diaries and registries written in code word. Cash and note counting machines, laptop equipment, diaries, bank checkbooks etc. have been seized from the shop and the case of tampering is being investigated as per law.
In this matter, after registering a case under various sections including fraud at the police station Kotwali, Chittorgarh, the police arrested Kankamal, a resident of Rishabh Complex, and Roshan Lal, a resident of Bassi, near the old police post. The main accused Gyan Mall is still absconding, efforts are being made to arrest him. The arrested accused have also been taken on one-day police remand.
