Los Angeles. Actor Danny Masterson was convicted in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday of two of three counts of rape.
’70s Show star Masterson, 47, was led from the courtroom in handcuffs after the verdict was announced. He could face up to 30 years in prison in this case. A jury of seven women and five men deliberated for seven days over two weeks and delivered its verdict.
However, the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the case involving allegations made by Masterson’s ex-girlfriend. Masterson will not be able to post bail pending sentencing. No date has yet been set for sentencing, but the judge ordered Masterson and his attorneys to appear in court on Aug. 4 for a hearing.
Masterson’s wife and actress Bijou Phillips was in court when the verdict was handed down. As Mastern was taken into custody, his eyes became moist. Other family members and friends present at the hearing were also surprised by the verdict. A spokesman for Masterson declined to comment on the verdict, although his lawyers are expected to appeal the verdict.
