In the year 1971, the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, declared war to free the common people of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) from Pakistani rule. At that time it was happening for the first time in the world that a country was fighting a war for the freedom of another country. Now taking responsibility for the war was like taking a big risk. But the officers and troops of our country did not give up. There were so many covert operations in 1971 that even if a film was made every month, there would be no shortage of stories. So far, many films like ‘The Ghazi Attack’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘1971’ have come out in this series. Now a new movie in this episode ‘IB 71’ is based on intelligence officer’s intelligence mission.

1971 The story of the battle of

The film ‘IB71’ is based on the historical operation carried out by the spies of the Intelligence Bureau. The story of the film is based on a plan to close Indian airspace to intercept Pakistani fighter jets. The entire responsibility of the mission is on the shoulders of Intelligence Bureau agent Dev Jamwal (Vidyut Jamwal). Along with 30 people, Dev undertakes this mission and also succeeds in dodging the entire Pakistan. Dev Jamwal enlists the help of a Kashmiri boy for this mission. This boy named Qasim Qureshi (Vishal Jethwa) dreams of an independent Kashmir.

true story weak display

The film is directed by Sankalp Reddy. The concept is what gave a cult film like ‘Ghazi Attack’. But the concept in this film has not allowed the story to progress naturally. The film shows less, tells more and is the film’s weakest link. Before the interval, the story seems to be drowning in such an ocean of emotions, the edge of which is not decided in front of the moviegoers. In this case the audience is not tied to the story. The film picks up pace after the interval and the thrills on the screen are also there. And, meanwhile the concept has tried its best to do justice to the story.

Vidyut Jamwal’s impressive acting

Vidyut Jamwal, the hero of the film ‘IB71’, has for the first time focused on acting more than his action. It is also essential for his long career. If Vidyut gets the right director, he can balance his height and facial expressions to play a good role. But, being a power producer here seems to overshadow the direction of the concept. The film also stars Vishal Jethwa. The audience has seen his dangerous form in ‘Mardani’. But from ‘Salam Vanki’, Vishal doesn’t seem to be trying to live up to the expectations of his fans. Anupam Kher in his usual style. In such films, the lines of his role are fixed and he acts accordingly.

The film got lost in the hype

The film ‘IB71’ is an action thriller but director Sankalp Reddy harnesses Vidyut’s energy. Sankalp this time tries to make Vidyut’s talent a hero who escapes the scenes that take place inside and outside the vehicle window that has become his signature. The movie is slightly better than average. The film’s editing, background music and special effects are impressive. Had it been promoted properly and a better date had been chosen at the box office for its release, it could have done a respectable business.
