On the morning of August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfold the tricolour and address the nation from within the walls of the Red Fort in New Delhi. This is his eighth Independence Day speech since taking office.
PM Modi will host this year’s Olympics contingent at the ceremony that awarded the country its medal record at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics protocols and social distancing measures. Independence Day 2021’s Theme
This year, Independence Day’s theme is “Nation First Always First,” to honour the sacrifices our freedom fighters have made and the glorious journey that has followed them for generations. The Indian contingent, which represented the country at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, has also been invited to the celebrations in the Red Fort.
Indian athletes have won seven medals at the Tokyo Games, including one gold in the javelin throw, two silver medals and four bronze medals.
