Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans bowler Mohit Sharma said his strategy of not experimenting against Suryakumar Yadav in the second IPL qualifier against Mumbai Indians paid off.

Gujarat Titans defeated five-time champions Mumbai by 62 runs in the second qualifier to enter the final. Mohit took 2. He took five wickets for 10 runs in two overs. Mohit said after the match, “I am lucky to get five wickets. Later the ball was slipping and with Surya and Tilak at the crease it looked like the match would be over.

Tilak Verma scored 43 runs off 14 balls and Suryakumar scored 61 runs off 38 balls but after their dismissal, the Mumbai team were bowled out for 171 runs in 18.2 overs.
Mohit, who won the Purple Cap with Chennai Super Kings in 2014, made his second innings debut with the Titans after recovering from a back injury. He could not get the IPL contract in 2021 and 2022.

He changed the course of the match yesterday by taking the important wicket of Suryakumar. He said, “I thought I would not experiment much in front of him. Wasn’t worried about taking too few shots. This strategy was successful.
