MDH (Mahashian Di Hatti) owner ‘Mahashay’ Dharampal Gulati passed away at the age of 98, on Thursday morning. It is reported that Mahaakshay died due to cardiac arrest. He was admitted in Chanan Devi Hospital and was going through a treatment from past few weeks.

The journey of this brand was initially started at a very small scale The company was created by the late Gulati’s father Chuni Lal as a small shop in Sialkot, Pakistan during the year1919. After the partition of the country, Gulati moved to a shop in Karol Bagh, Delhi1947. He extended his operation in15 factories, supplying around 1000 dealers in India. It is now a sprawling Rs 1500 crore business realm that runs the masala company, various educational institutions, and a hospital.
MDH owner, who was also known as Dadaji, was the Highest-paid consumer products CEO for the year 2017, India. He was dropped out of school in 5th grade but worked very hard for making MDH a reputed business. He made sure that everything was in order by making daily rounds of factories, markets, and dealers even on Sundays.
MDH has a diversified product range consisting of more than 60 products. The highest sales are from these three products – Deggi Mirch, Chat Masala, and Chana Masala. According to reports, each of these products is sold over one crore packet per month.
MDH is an international exporter as it exports its products to over 100 countries. The company owns various overseas offices including in Dubai and London.
