MG Windsor Electric CUV: Bold Design, Advanced Features, and Affordable EV Ownership
MG has launched its latest electric car in India The Windsor EV, which is the third electric model from British automaker MG. The car is based on the Wuling Cloud EV, which is quite popular in Southeast Asian markets. The Windsor EV has an overall length of 4.29 meters and a wheelbase of 2.7 meters, making it the largest in its segment.
MG Windsor Electric CUV – Design and Features:
The design of the MG Windsor EV is quite modern and stylish. Up front, you get a full-width LED light bar and oval-shaped LED headlights. The side profile gets 18-inch alloy wheels and flush-fitting door handles to give it a premium look. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps and chrome garnish complete its contemporary appearance.
As soon as you enter the interior, the minimalistic dashboard and massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system impress. This system has features like wireless phone mirroring, climate control operations, and a 360-degree camera. The 135-degree reclining angle of the rear seats and the panoramic glass roof make the cabin airy and comfortable.
Advanced features of the MG Windsor EV include:
- 360-degree camera: A very helpful feature in parking and tight spaces.
- Blind Spot Monitor: This feature alerts you about vehicles coming in blind spots.
- Ventilated front seats: keep you comfortable during the hot summer days.
- Automatic Climate Control: Cabin temperature adjusts automatically.
- Wireless Charger: You can charge your phone without a cable.
The exterior of the MG Windsor EV also has some very attractive features like a split headlamp design, LED DRLs, a front fender-mounted charging port, flush-fitting door handles, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Performance and Range:
The MG Windsor EV comes with a 38kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 331 km on a single charge. Its PMS motor, which is IP67 certified, produces a peak power output of 136 Hp and 200 Nm of torque. The car comes with 4 driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport.
The acceleration of the Windsor EV is also quite impressive; it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 9.5 seconds. Its low centre of gravity and balanced weight distribution enhance the driving experience.
Battery as a Service (BaaS) Model:
A unique feature of the MG Windsor EV is its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. The battery cost is not included in the price of the car; rather, users will have to pay battery rental per km, which makes the initial purchase cost quite accessible. In this model, you will have to pay โน3.5 per km for battery rental.
Example Calculation:
- Initial Price: โน9.99 lakh (excluding battery)
- Battery Rental: โน3.5 per km
- Monthly Running Cost (1000 km): โน3,500
- Annual Running Cost (12,000 km): โน42,000
Under the BaaS model, you do not have to worry about battery maintenance and replacement. MG Motors provides a lifetime warranty on the battery as long as you are the first owner. If you sell the car, the second owner gets a warranty of 8 years or up to 1.6 lakh km.

The introductory price of the MG Windsor EV starts from โน9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This price is for initial buyers and can increase later. MG has also introduced a “pay as you drive” battery rental option, which will cost you โน3.5 per kilometre.
