Mumbai A terrible fire broke out in a seven-storey residential building in the Kalbadevi area of South Mumbai late on Thursday night. However, there is no information about any loss of life in this incident. The officials gave this information.
He said that a fire broke out in the building located on Dhanji Street near the famous Mumbadevi temple at around 1.30 am and many people trapped in the building were taken out.
“At the time of the incident, 50 to 60 people were trapped inside the building, but fire brigade personnel pulled them out safely using the stairs of a nearby building,” said a municipal corporation official. At least 12 fire tenders are present and firefighting operations are underway.
He said, “The work of controlling the fire is going on from all sides.” So far, there is no news of any loss of life in this incident. The official said that parts of the roof of the first and second floors and a part of the stairs have collapsed. Firefighting operations are being carried out from outside the building as a “precautionary measure,” he said, adding that the fire started on the ground floor and spread to the fifth floor. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. More details about the incident are awaited.
