Odisha train accident: Salman Khan calls it ‘unfortunate’, ‘save the families and injured, give strength’

Balasore: Actor Salman Khan expressed grief over the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district, in which 238 people were killed and over 900 injured. “Deeply saddened to hear about the accident, may God rest the souls of the deceased, save them from this unfortunate accident and give strength to the families and the injured,” Salman wrote on Twitter.

About 650 injured passengers have been taken to hospitals in Gopalpur, Khantapara, Balasore, Bhadrak and Soro, South Eastern Railway said. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the heirs of the deceased.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the ex-gratia amount will be allocated to the heirs of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

According to railway spokesperson Amitabh Sharma, the accident took place around 7 pm on Friday. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation. The restoration will begin after getting approval from the district administration,” the Union Railway Minister said.
