Odisha train accident: Salman Khan calls it ‘unfortunate’, ‘save the families and injured, give strength’

Balasore: Actor Salman Khan expressed grief over the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district, in which 238 people were killed and over 900 injured. “Deeply saddened to hear about the accident, may God rest the souls of the deceased, save them from this unfortunate accident and give strength to the families and the injured,” Salman wrote on Twitter.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the ex-gratia amount will be allocated to the heirs of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

Several coaches of Howrah-bound 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express derailed and fell onto the adjacent track. 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express coming from the opposite direction on a parallel track collided with derailed coaches. something Coromandel Express coaches derailed and hit a stationary freight train on the third track.

According to railway spokesperson Amitabh Sharma, the accident took place around 7 pm on Friday. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation. He has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident. “The Railway Safety Commissioner will also conduct an independent inquiry,” Vaishnav said on Saturday. “Our focus is on rescue and relief operations. The restoration will begin after getting approval from the district administration,” the Union Railway Minister said.
