Mumbai: Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan-directed feature film ’72 Huron’ will release in Indian theaters on July 7, the makers announced on Sunday. The 2019 film, starring Pawan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir in lead roles, focuses on the consequences of violent extremism.
Chauhan, who also edited the film, said the story was a “sad reminder of the power of manipulation” and “there is an urgent need to address the root causes of terrorism.” “The gradual poisoning of the brain by criminals turns ordinary people into suicide bombers. Let’s remember that even the bombers themselves, along with families like ours, have fallen prey to the twisted beliefs and brainwashing of terrorist leaders and a deadly delusion of 72 are trapped in. The virgins, they follow a path of destruction, ultimately meeting a terrible fate,” the director, also known for films like “Lahore”, said in a statement.
’72 Hooren’ premiered under the Indian Panorama section at the 2019 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where it received the ICFT-UNESCO GANDHI MEDAL Special Mention. In 2021, Chauhan won the National Film Award for Best Director for the film.

Producer Gulab Singh Tanwar said that ’72 Hooran’ is the perfect story to show ‘how fictional stories were sold in the name of religion to convert innocent and ordinary people into ruthless terrorists’. Co-producer Ashok Pandit urged the audience to watch the film with a ‘rational mind’.
“The film will definitely make you think about certain beliefs prevalent in society and how they are just a figment of imagination. It will make you think about the assumptions and ideologies that are not even close to reality, and How are they. Only used to brainwash people to become terrorists in the name of Jihad.
Produced by Sarathi Entertainment and Aliens Pictures, “72 Hooren” is written by Anil Pandey and Junaid Wasi.
