Google Pixel

Some users of the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series have recently complained of a strange issue after the latest update of Android 15. Many users have reported that a pill-shaped notification with the word ‘Say Answer’ appears on the screen during incoming calls. This problem is not only affecting the user experience but also causing difficulties in viewing other notifications.

Cause of the Bug and its Effect

This problem seems to be related to the “Quick Phrases” feature of Google Assistant. Under this feature, users can answer the call by saying “Answer” or reject the call by saying “Decline” directly without saying “Hey Google”. However, due to the bug, this notification remains persistent on the screen during incoming calls and cannot be removed, even after the call ends.

The most significant issue with this problem is that the notification covers the caller ID and other important information, making it difficult for users to access notifications properly. Due to this, users are having difficulty accessing other notifications, thereby disrupting the normal use of the device.

Affected Devices and Systems

According to the information so far, models like Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are affected by this problem. This problem is being seen exclusively on the stable version of Android 15.

User Response

Technology media portal Android Authority reported in a blog post on the issue that this bug is causing trouble for Pixel device users. Users have appealed to Google to release a solution to this problem as soon as possible.

Waiting for Google’s Response

As of now, Google has not issued any official statement regarding this bug. It is expected that Google will soon recognize this problem and release a fix update to solve it.

Suggestion

If you are using the Pixel 8 or Pixel 9 series and are facing this bug, you can consider disabling the Quick Phrases feature temporarily. This can be done by going to Settings. Also, keep an eye on Google’s official announcements for updates.

This bug is affecting the user experience and disrupting the normal functionality of the device. Google needs to take quick steps to fix the technical flaws. Until then, affected users are advised to be cautious and possibly not use this feature.

Google’s next update is expected to fix this issue, bringing back the experience of Pixel device users to normal.
