New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the demise of popular actress Sulochana Latkar, who played screen mother to several top stars.

BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has also expressed grief over his demise. “Saddened by the passing away of legendary actress Sulochana ji. Latkar passed away today (June 4) in Maharashtra; According to reports, his last rites will be held on June 5.
She was not only a household name in the Hindi film industry but was also known for her work in Marathi cinema. Sulochana acted in many popular films like ‘Katti Patang’, ‘Dil De Ke Dekho’, ‘Gora Aur Kaala’, ‘Sujatha’, ‘Devar’, ‘Bandini’, ‘Aye Din Bahar Ke’ and many more.
He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1999 by the Government of India. In 2004, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Filmfare Awards. The seasoned actress was also honored with the Maharashtra Bhushan Award.
