New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the people of Goa on its Foundation Day. He described the region as a wonderful blend of tranquility and vibrancy that inspires people with its unique culture and timeless spirit.
Goa was earlier a Portuguese colony. In the year 1961, it became a part of India and was made a Union Territory. It also included Daman and Diu. On this day in 1987, Goa got full statehood. It is the smallest state of India by area and is a favorite tourist destination.
Modi tweeted, “Best wishes on Goa’s foundation day! Goa, a perfect blend of serenity and vibrancy, continues to inspire people with its unique culture and timeless spirit. I pray for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Goa and hope that they continue to strengthen India’s growth trajectory.
