After the success of Priyanka Chopra Jones and Richard Madden starrer Citadel, the makers are now all set to bring its Indian version to the screens featuring actors Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. This news has already created a lot of excitement among the fans. In a recent update, it has been revealed that the Indian version of “Citadel”, directed by Raj and DK, will be a prequel to its international counterpart, with Samantha playing Priyanka’s mother, herself a former Citadel agent.
The Indian series will predate the events of the international version, featuring a younger version of Priyanka’s character, Nadia Singh. Samantha will play Nadia’s mother, as the actress confirmed to eTimes. Samantha expressed excitement and confirmed that she will be playing Nadia’s mother, which effectively means that Varun Dhawan is playing Priyanka’s father.
The report further claims that this is just a “technicality” as both versions will be set in two different time periods.
Recently, Samantha reminded a fan that the Indian version of “Citadel” is not a remake. The clarification came after he shared pictures from his birthday celebration, prompting a fan to ask if his Citadel story will be the same or if it will be a dubbed Hindi version. Samantha quickly replied, “”It’s not a remake!!”
The details of Samantha and Varun’s characters are yet to be revealed by the makers.
Varun Dhawan’s voice cameo in Prime Video’s Citadel
Varun Dhawan made a surprise cameo in the English version of the spy thriller series. In the fifth episode, Varun was introduced as Rahi Gambhir, Nadia’s father. However, only his voice was heard in the episode. While fans were still confused, the makers finally confirmed it by adding a “special thanks” to the “Bhedia” actor in the credits.
With so many hints already dropped by the makers, fans are quite excited to know more about the Indian version of “Citadel”.
