Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi wins 5 awards at IIFA Awards

New Delhi: The season of awards has begun and it is the time when real entertainment gems receive appreciation for their work. While the film proved its mettle by filling theaters in the post-pandemic era, it emerged as one of the most successful films of the year. After carving its niche in every corner, the film made its presence felt at the recently held 23rd IIFA Awards by taking home awards in 5 categories.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has won 5 awards in IIFA. Notably, the film won awards for Lead Role (Female) – Alia Bhatt, Best Debut (Male) – Shantanu Maheshwari, Best Screenplay – Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashisht, Best Dialogue – Utkarshini Vashisht and Prakash Kapadia and Best Actor. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiyawadi emerged as a truly successful film that set precedents for its success and in its theatrical run, the film earned 153.69 crores at the domestic box office and 209.77 crores worldwide. The film also registered its success at various award ceremonies as at the 68th Filmfare Awards, the film received a major 16 nominations and won a major 10 awards for Bhatt, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress.
