Veteran actress Soni Razdan lost her father Narendranath Razdan on June 1. She had been battling age-related complications for a long time. Soni Razdan shared a heartfelt video with a long note, recalling the memories he shared with his father. Describing him as a “hero”, a unique person, and “a real rockstar”, she wrote that her father was a remarkable architect in every aspect of her life, be it her family, buildings, or even That he also has a sense of humor.
“Dad was the most joyful, fun-loving, creative and life-affirming man I have ever met. Our childhood was spent in a real alternate universe with Dad whenever he was around. We either get fed up with her telling stories to us… about the good girl Neelam and her mischievous younger brother Gagan, or the fictional Chunnu, whom adults couldn’t see but we could – or she used to play his violin. For us – or imitate Groucho Marx … oh the list was endless,” he wrote and credited his father for his talent in the arts.
Soni Razdan notes that his father was a natural entertainer and spent nine years studying architecture in London – a time when he played violin for the legendary dancer Ram Gopal.
Soni Razdan also recalled how her parents met in London, got married, and were with her before finally moving to India.
“But Dad’s joy for life, family, jokes and whiskey is great. And of course his passion for painting and architecture and music,” he mentions while talking about the various works that Narendranath Razdan designed during his tenure as an architect.
Recalling his vivacious personality and healthy lifestyle, she noted that her father defied medical science on several occasions. Soni Razdan ended his note by thanking his father.
