Tata Nexon EV Re-Enters The Indian Market With a Bigger Battery Pack: Updated Key Features, Price, and More
The Tata Nexon EV is back in the Indian market with massive updates that include better features and a larger battery pack, reasserting its position in the electric SUV segment. The Nexon EV was already a well-received option before these updates and will only provide further coverage and performance with these updates. Let’s explore what’s improved in depth.
Larger Battery Pack and Range
The main update to the Tata Nexon EV is the larger 45kWh battery pack, which has significantly increased the range. Before, the Nexon EV was offered in a 30kWh option with 325 km and a 40.5 kWh option that offered 465 km of range, now the new larger pack offers a claimed range of 489 km, which is superior for longer tripsโ.
Tata has also increased its charging speed. The 45kWh version will charge 10-80% in about 48 minutes compared to the 40.5kWh version’s 56 minutes. Now we can confidently predict real-world range will sit between 350-370 km, which provides better usability.
Updated Specs
Aside from the larger battery pack, Tata has made additional advancements that will improve the Nexon EV for their customers. Panoramic sunroofs are on the top-level options, which for the compact SUV segment is virtually unheard of! The Nexon EV is also offering a new “frunk”, or front trunk for additional storage, which helps create a more useful vehicle.
There are additional updates inside the Nexon EV; an all-digital control panel now lives within the cabin, smart welcome and goodbye sequences, enhanced vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging, and finally a new Red Dark variant was introduced with a nice bold black and red theme on and in the vehicle which includes normal red accents and the infotainment’s Red Dark themed UI.
Pricing
The revised Tata Nexon EV line-up makes a value-enhanced impression, starting from โน13.99 lakh for the introductory Creative trim level variant with the 45kWh battery variant, going up โน16.99 lakh for the top-tier Empowered+ version version with the larger battery pack, while the exclusive Red Dark model is also assessed at โน17.19 lakh.
The Nexon EV will continue to be tough competition for rivals like the Mahindra XUV400 and MG Windsor EV within the Indian EV transition. This will strengthen Tata’s already dominant leadership position, as they possess over 70% of the Indian EV market
Tata Motors has stylishly doled out the Nexon EV, having finessed much more bigger battery and bells and whistles. Offering extended range and more nebulously charging will certainly appeal to vertical enthusiasts, while extra goodies, like the panoramic sunroof and enhanced tech, will appeal to the less vertically participatory everyday operators.
