Thailand Introduces Tourist Police App and Safety Center for Visitor Protection
Thailand has launched a new mobile application ‘Thailand Tourist Police’ and ‘Tourism Safety Operation Center’ (TSOC), prioritizing the safety of foreign tourists. This initiative is aimed at restoring the confidence of foreign tourists amid the recent increase in crimes and cases of cross-border fraud.
Establishment of Tourism Safety Operation Center
The Thai National Police has established the ‘Tourism Safety Operation Center’, which will implement security measures by coordinating between local and tourism police. It is headed by police chiefs Kit-Rat Panpet and Prachuab Wongsuk. The main objective of the center is to ensure the safety of tourists and respond quickly to any emergency.
Features of the ‘Thailand Tourist Police’ app
The new mobile app is designed to provide security services to tourists in a quick and easy way.
- Services: Through the app, tourists can send messages, photos and their location directly to the police.
- Emergency center connection: The app is connected to the 1155 emergency helpline, which provides service 24 hours a day and in 8 languages.
- Hotline coordination: The app is also connected to the 191 emergency hotline, providing immediate help in case of emergency.
International Cooperation and Action on Crimes
The Thai police have increased coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, Department of Sports and foreign embassies to resolve tourist-related emergencies faster.
Recently, strict measures have been taken against human trafficking and cross-border crimes after the rescue operation of Chinese actor Wang Jing from Myanmar. Under this, Thai and Chinese authorities have set up a Thai-Chinese Police Coordination Center, which will strengthen call center fraud and border security.
Efforts to Restore Tourist Confidence
Thailand has taken this step to improve its image and give foreign tourists a safe experience. Through the app and operation center, tourists will now feel more secure. With these technological and managerial initiatives, Thailand has proven that it is committed to making its tourism sector one of the safest and most attractive in the world.
This initiative will not only strengthen Thailand’s security system but also provide tourists with a comfortable and seamless travel experience.
