Kakamighara India, unbeaten so far in the competition, will be eyeing a place in the semi-finals in their final pool match against Chinese Taipei in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament here on Thursday.

After thrashing Uzbekistan 22-0 in the first match, India defeated Malaysia 2-1 in a tight encounter. India defeated Korea 2-2 in their previous pool match. Team India leads Pool A with seven points. Out of two wins and a draw, a draw against Chinese Taipei would be enough to book a place in the semi-finals.

Mumtaz Khan and Deepika have been in fine form for India, scoring goals while Deepika Soreng has also impressed. Deepika has scored in every match of the tournament so far, but as the tournament enters its final stages, India are no slouch. “The tournament has been good for us so far as we haven’t lost a match,” said Indian captain Preity.

The matches against Malaysia and Korea were close but it gave us a chance to prove our mettle as we came from behind in both matches. Chinese Taipei have won just one of three matches so far and are fourth out of five teams in Pool A with three points.
