Google Messages to Get WhatsApp Video Calling Support Soon

Google Messages

Google is preparing to add a new feature to its messaging app Google Messages, which will allow users to make video calls directly on WhatsApp. Recently, an APK teardown revealed this feature of the latest version of Google Messages.

How will the new feature work?

If both you and your chat partner use WhatsApp, then a new video call option will be available in Google Messages. This option will be present in the top-right corner, where the option of โ€œWhatsApp Video Callโ€ will appear. By tapping this button, the video call will start directly on WhatsApp.

However, this feature will currently be available only for one-on-one (1:1) chats. For group chats or contacts who donโ€™t use WhatsApp, Google Messages will default to Google Meet for video calls.

When will this feature be launched?

The release date of this feature is not yet clear, but it is in active development and can be rolled out in the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see how Google finalizes this feature.

This new feature will be very beneficial for those users who use both Google Messages and WhatsApp. With this, they will not need to switch the app for video calling, but will be able to start a call on WhatsApp directly from the Google Messages app.

However, some changes can also be made in this feature before its launch. It is expected that Google will also give users the option to choose between WhatsApp and Google Meet, so that they can use the video calling platform as per their convenience.
