Google Messages to Get WhatsApp Video Calling Support Soon

Google is preparing to add a new feature to its messaging app Google Messages, which will allow users to make video calls directly on WhatsApp. Recently, an APK teardown revealed this feature of the latest version of Google Messages.

How will the new feature work?

If both you and your chat partner use WhatsApp, then a new video call option will be available in Google Messages. This option will be present in the top-right corner, where the option of “WhatsApp Video Call” will appear. By tapping this button, the video call will start directly on WhatsApp.

However, this feature will currently be available only for one-on-one (1:1) chats. For group chats or contacts who don’t use WhatsApp, Google Messages will default to Google Meet for video calls.

When will this feature be launched?
