Tesla CyberCab: Autonomous Taxi Driven with a Game Controller

Tesla CyberCab

Tesla has surprised the world by introducing its autonomous taxi CyberCab. This unique car has neither a steering wheel nor pedals. Instead of traditional driving controls, a device like a video game controller is used to drive it.

How Does CyberCab Work?

CyberCab is driven through a game controller, which is wired to the vehicle’s computer. It was first displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum, where it was controlled with a gamepad-like controller and transported to the display area.

This car is designed for fully autonomous driving, but under special circumstances it can also be controlled wired or wirelessly. According to reports, wireless control from outside is mainly used when the vehicle requires manual intervention.

Braking System and Other Technical Features

The CyberCab shown at the exhibition did not have wheel covers, so that its braking system could be clearly seen. The system resembles the calipers of the Tesla Model 3 Performance and uses rear brakes on all four wheels. The brakes on the rear axle are painted red.

Future Plans

Tesla CyberCab is expected to begin testing on public roads in the first quarter of 2025. During the initial testing, a safety driver will be included to ensure safety.

Tesla aims to make it fully autonomous, making it more affordable and practical to control wirelessly. In addition, Tesla also plans to hire remote safety operators for its first robotaxi fleet. These operators will control the vehicle remotely, especially when the autonomous system is unable to resolve a problem.

Tesla CyberCab is a revolutionary step in the world of autonomous vehicles. It is not only technologically advanced, but its design and operating methods are also completely different from conventional vehicles. Its design without steering and pedals has made it a topic of discussion in the tech and automobile industry.

By 2027, Tesla plans to launch its robotaxi services. This vehicle will also be available to the general public, but many issues related to its operation and safety are yet to be resolved.

With CyberCab, Tesla has taken a big step towards the future, and it will be interesting to see how this technology develops in the coming years.
